“We understand that when considering the Museum for your school or institution, you may have a range of questions and concerns.  As our foremost priorities encompass the safety, welfare, education and enjoyment of all participants, we have taken proactive steps to address these aspects to assist you in making an informal decision, we have compiled a set of questions below that you may wish to ask regarding the museum.

Q1:  What specific topics or themes does the Museum cover?

​

A1: The museum covers a diverse range of topics and themes.  Some of the common themes include Black History, Themes covered, Tudor, Migration, Romans, Inventions, Science & Medicine, Windrush, and World War I & World War I. We offer a variety of exhibits that can be tailored your school’s specific curriculum needs.

Q2:  How does the content align with our curriculum and educational goals?

​

A2:  We work closely with educators to ensure that the content aligns with the general curriculum and educational goals as set out with the Department of Education. Who are committed to the integration of Black History into the curriculum for Key Stages 1 to 3.  Our mission is to provide students with a comprehensive and enriching historical education that fosters critical thinking, cultural awareness, and a deeper understanding of world’s past.

We firmly believe that history is a vital part of a well-rounded education, and we are dedicated to ensuring its meaningful inclusion in our curriculum.

Q3:  Are there resources or lesson plans provided for teachers to integrate the museum into classroom learning?

A3: Absolutely! We can tailor a visit plan to align with your specific educational topic, incorporating relevant museum exhibits. Please note that custom plans are priced differently. For more details, feel free to reach out to us.

These resources are designed to help educators seamlessly integrate the museum experience into their teaching.  They include pre-visit materials, post-visit activities, and suggested classroom discussions.

Q4:  What is the availability of the mobile museum for booking?

​

A4: Our Mobile Museum is available year-round, and we have flexible booking options to accommodate your school’s schedule.  Please contact our booking coordinator to discuss specific dates and availability

 

Q5: How long can we accommodate the museum, and what are the scheduling options?

 

A5: You can schedule visits to the museum for either single or multiple classes. We suggest booking a class for a 2-hour session to maximize engagement and learning.  

The duration of accommodation can be based on your school’s needs.  Whether you require the museum for a single day or an extended period, we can accommodate your scheduling preferences.

COSTS AND FUNDING:

Q7:  What are the fees or costs associated with acquiring the museum?

​

A7:  The cost is based on per child @ £5.00 per head per session which is for 2 hours

Q8:  Are there any additional expenses, such as transportation or staff fees?

​

A8: Transportations are the schools’ responsibility, and we are not liable for any costs or reimbursements

ACCESSIBILITY & SPACE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Q9:  Is the museum wheelchair accessible?

A9:  Yes, our mobile museum is designed to be wheelchair accessible, ensuring that all students can fully participate in the experience

Q10: Can No Ordinary Museum accommodate a full class, and what are the space capabilities?

​

A10: Yes, No Ordinary Museum can comfortably accommodate a full class of up to 28-30 students. We have a designated area specifically for students to safely store their coats and bags during their visit, ensuring they can explore the exhibits freely and comfortably.

SAFETY & SECURITY:

Q11: How do you ensure the safety of students and museum exhibits?

​

A11: Safety is our top priority.  Our exhibits are designed with safety in mind, and our staff are trained to create a secure environment.  We also conduct regular safety checks to ensure the well-being of all our visitors.

Q12: Are there any security measures in place to protect the children?

​

A12: At No Ordinary Museum, the safety of all visitors, especially children, is our top priority. We have comprehensive security measures in place to handle any potential threats. This includes on-foot security personnel throughout the centre, reliable evacuation procedures, communication via security radios, and protected barriers to prevent unauthorized access. These measures ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.

Q13: What emergency procedures are in place in case of unexpected situations?

​

A13: We have comprehensive emergency procedures in place, including evacuation plans and protocols for handling medical emergencies.  Our staff are trained to respond swiftly and effectively to any unexpected situations.  But as is normal in Safeguarding all schools should have their own Medical Officer to hand at any exhibition, whether in-house or outside.

Q14: What are the expected learning outcomes for students who visit the museum?

​

A14: At No Ordinary Museum, we understand that each student learns at their own pace and in their own way, based on their individual abilities. While we strive to provide a comprehensive and immersive historical experience, the depth of understanding each student gains may vary. We conduct extensive research to ensure our lessons are as accurate and informative as possible, but please note that we cannot guarantee specific learning outcomes for each attendee.
